1. Who we are

LegalVectors is a legal technology platform that provides tools for advocates and law students, including legal research, case tracking, case-law and citation verification, access to bare acts, AI-assisted drafting review, judgment downloads, and related features. For the purposes of applicable data protection law, LegalVectors is the “Data Fiduciary” (controller) responsible for your personal data.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide to us

• Account details — name, email address, and password (or, where you sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google shares with us).
• Role and profile information — whether you are a student or an advocate, and any details you choose to add to your profile.
• Content you submit — search queries, case numbers, citations, and documents or text you upload for review (for example, drafts submitted to Draft Check).
• Communications — messages you send us, including support requests and feedback.

Information we collect automatically

• Usage data — pages visited, features used, actions taken, and timestamps.
• Device and technical data — IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers.
• Cookies and similar technologies — as described in our Cookie Policy.

3. How we use your information

We process your personal data to:

• create and manage your account and authenticate you;
• provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Services;
• process your queries and return results — including running searches, verifying citations, generating drafts, and retrieving judgments and case information;
• respond to your requests, provide support, and send service-related communications;
• monitor usage, prevent fraud and abuse, and keep the Services secure;
• comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

4. Legal bases for processing

We process your personal data on the basis of your consent, the performance of our contract with you (providing the Services you request), our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services, and compliance with applicable law. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time as described below.

5. Artificial intelligence and third-party processors

Some features use third-party artificial intelligence and infrastructure providers to function. When you use these features, the relevant input (such as your query or uploaded text) is sent to these providers solely to generate a response and operate the feature. Our sub-processors include providers of authentication and database hosting, application hosting, and AI/language-model services.

AI outputs are generated automatically and may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. They do not constitute legal advice and must be independently verified before you rely on them. See our Terms of Service for more.

6. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it with:

• Service providers and sub-processors who help us operate the Services (hosting, authentication, analytics, and AI providers), under appropriate confidentiality and data-protection obligations;
• Legal and regulatory authorities where required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, users, or the public;
• A successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

7. Data retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, and thereafter only as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it.

8. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you and request a summary of its processing;
• request correction or updating of inaccurate or incomplete data;
• request erasure of your personal data;
• withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
• nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity;
• raise a grievance with us and, if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.

10. Children

The Services are intended for users who are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

11. International transfers

Some of our service providers may store or process data outside India. Where we transfer personal data across borders, we take steps to ensure it is protected consistently with this Policy and applicable law.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
